Medicare Rebates | Mental Health Care Plan
If you are referred to a psychologist by your GP you can claim a rebate from Medicare for up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group sessions in a calendar year.
A Medicare rebate is available to people who have a Mental Health Care Plan prepared by their GP or Psychiatrist. You will need to book an appointment with your GP to discuss this. Inform the receptionist about the reason for your visit when you are booking, as you will require a longer appointment time. A review by your GP/Psychiatrist is required after the first 6 sessions.
Further information about Medicare Rebates can be found here.
Private Health Care Rebates
Private health care funds offer a rebate for psychological services of between $50-100 per session. Contact your health care fund to find out the level of your rebate, as this varies between funds.
Please note that it is not possible to receive a Health Fund rebate for a session that has been rebated via Medicare.
Appointments are available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 9 to 5.30.
A limited number of after-hours appointments (commencing after 5pm) are available on Tuesday and Wednesday, which attract a higher fee.
